BIO:
CRYING
BLUE SKY is a Los Angeles based band that delivers a surprising blend
of grunge-era guitar power and soaring, haunting vocals in a style that
seems to be a natural evolution from the work of rock pioneers such as
Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Mike Bloomfield.
Add to this the strong,
melodic songwriting with ethereal, message-oriented lyrics and you find
that this band has carved out a niche all their own in the current alternative
music scene.
Jan King, vocalist and guitarist for the band, is no newcomer to the music scene. Ad a writer and performer, the credits range from major album releases on MCA and Twin Tone to movie scores to a cover of her song "Cahins" by Soul Asylum. Also a much sought-after studio vocalist, Jan Most recently recorded "Fading Away" for the Paramount feature "Pet Sematary 2", a song written and produced by Crying Blue Sky's producer, Mark Governor.
Jan's bandmate for the past six years, Tami Peden originally started on bass, but soon returned to her first love, drums. Now a well-seasoned performer with ample recording and touring experience, Tami's solid percussion powers home the band's sound.
Crying Blue Sky's newest member is bassist Marry Kay, who originally hails from Detoit. Her solid grooves and powerful sound are well known to Los Angeles fans who remember her from her former bands, The Dogs and She-Rock. Mary also sings harmony vocals on most of the band's songs.
Weaving a rich tapestry of lush vocal arrangements with ever changing tone colors and rhythmic accents, Crying Blue Sky is a band with a sound you have not hear before, and one you will not soon forget.
